My Interest in Law

My interest in LawThe subject of law fascinates me extensively. I am intrigued by developments in the legal system and the way that it adapts to an ever-changing society.

As a child, I had a broad interest in many subjects and always pondered my career for the future. The thought of engaging in law never crossed my mind until I was given the opportunity to work in a legal environment. My current employment has given me valuable insight into work in the legal domain and immediately I knew that a career in the legal environment was one which I would indulge myself in and which would enable me to expand on my interest in law.

Law affects our everyday lives almost without us noticing. If we look at the news, there is always an aspect of law up for debate. Law affects everyone, regardless of race, age, size or favourite rugby team. It isn’t prejudiced; it doesn’t expect you to break any rules. It’s international; everywhere has laws. Law, in theory, is the essence of fairness, which is why it so interests me in a world that many people deem to be unfair. I find these debates fascinating, as the complexity of law continues to astound me.

I am employed as a Case Assistant in the Legal Services Department for Dyfed Powys Police and am currently studying the Legal Secretaries Diploma Course (distance learning). This course is providing me with an expanded insight into the rights and wrongs of law, why conflicts arise and how they are resolved, and in-depth knowledge of law, which I was unaware of.

I believe that completing this course will significantly aid me in achieving my goal to forward my future career in the legal environment.
