ILSPA’s Classes Return to Regent’s University!

The Institute of Legal Secretaries and PAs is delighted to announce that our evening classes are returning to Regent’s University on Wednesday 13 September 2023. Regent’s University is situated in Regent’s Park in the heart of London. The beautiful architecture and setting provide an impressive and tranquil learning environment.

Prior to the pandemic, our Legal Secretaries Diploma course was held at the University for over 15 years. We have been offering live online classes for the past three years, however it is time to offer Students the opportunity to be taught in person again. Whilst the online classes work well for those who live outside of London or want to learn from home, the classes at Regent’s University enable many Students to gain a fuller experience. Being able to connect with the tutor and the other members of the class in person provides extra support and boosts motivation.

ILSPA’s Legal Secretaries Diploma course is equivalent to a level 3 qualification. It is designed to provide learners with the legal knowledge and practical skills they need to either go into employment or advance their existing careers. Students will learn general legal procedures, key Legal Secretary skills and various areas of law. They will also advance their word processing skills through producing legal documents, completing legal forms and typing professional correspondence.

The course is suitable for those who want to start a career as a Legal Secretary, experienced Legal Secretaries who want to gain a formal qualification or law graduates who want to gain the practical skills required to work in the legal profession. We have a wide range of Students of all ages, many nationalities and varying levels of experience.

The tutor will be Seamus Ryan, who originally qualified as a Solicitor and is an experienced law lecturer. He has worked for CILEX as well as the Law Society, providing training to legal professionals at various levels. Seamus is very popular with our Students due to his friendly approach to teaching and his humorous stories, which bring law to life!

A Student named Rachel Clement expressed:

“I took the course with no previous legal experience, but looking for a career change, and I was not disappointed! Seamus is a great tutor; he explains things very clearly, goes at a pace suitable for everyone and has a good sense of humour to keep things interesting. The course content exceeded my expectations, and I certainly feel prepared and confident to start applying for roles within the legal sector. I would recommend this course to anyone with an interest in law.”

The classes will run every Wednesday evening for 12 weeks from 6.30pm to 9.30pm. The nearest Tube station is Baker Street, which is about a five-minute walk to the University. You can find further information here.
