Paralegal Training for Legal Secretaries

National Association of Licensed ParalegalsIn this difficult economic climate, it is even more important to give yourself an edge over your competitors. So why not do yourself a favour? Paralegal skills can be useful in marketing yourself as a Paralegal Secretary and can give you a better chance to gain employment.

The National Association of Licensed Paralegals can recommend a course perfect for this. It is a four-day practical skills course run by AH Paralegal Training and is highly recommended by all Legal Secretaries who have taken it. Some course graduates have acquired a taste for the legal profession and have gone on to become fully qualified Paralegals.

The course has a number of advantages: it is short, it does not incorporate any law and it teaches you practical skills that enable you to carry out paralegal tasks in court – for example, taking notes during a trial and issuing documents at court. This course is ideal to complement the Institute’s Legal Secretaries Diploma course. It also encourages students to work for themselves as freelance Paralegals.

If you truly have a taste for law, however, why not gain a Paralegal qualification? The Higher Certificate in Paralegal Studies is our benchmark qualification for those who do not have a law degree.

It incorporates two modules; the first is General Principles of Law, including the English Legal System, Contract Law, the Law of Tort, Criminal Law, and Wills and Intestacy. The second module is Procedural Law and includes Civil Litigation, Criminal Procedure, Matrimonial and Civil Partnership, Conveyancing, and Succession.

Upon receipt of your qualification you will be eligible for Associate Membership of the Association and be entitled to use the designatory letters A.PLL. after your name.  Achieving professional status such as this will greatly improve your opportunities and you can receive advice and guidance from the Association about your career.
